LED Flashlights

December 15th, 2010 No comments

Are you always hearing that LED flashlights are better than flashlights with other bulbs, but not sure why? There are several reasons that LED bulbs are the smart choice for flashlights.

Energy Efficient – LED bulbs have been proven to last about 10 times longer than CFLs and even 60 times longer than incandescent bulbs. LED (which stands for Light-Emitting Diode) bulbs are powered by electrons, which uses up less energy than other common light sources. As an added bonus, LED bulbs emit less heat because they are using less energy.

Lower Cost – As mentioned above, LED bulbs and LED flashlights last much longer than other sources. This means the replacement costs of LED flashlights are much lower. The prices on LED flashlight bulbs and other LED products have also significantly decreased in the last decade. Although non-LED flashlights will typically be less expensive up front, LED flashlights are a much better financial investment over time.

Brighter Bulb – LED manufacturers have been developing techniques to make LED flashlights brighter than ever. Now compact and energy-efficient, LED flashlights can boost that they are extremely powerful light sources too.

Environmentally Friendly – Unlike some alternative light sources, LED bulbs contain no mercury. This makes them better for the environment when they are disposed of. The fact that they last longer and are more energy efficient also cuts down on the amount of bulbs and flashlights that are disposed of every year.

You can find LED bulbs in many types of flashlights, including tactical LED flashlights, LED keychain lights, rechargeable LED flashlights, LED headlamps, economy LED flashlights, LED lanterns and more.

What Are Fire/Rescue Flashlights?

November 22nd, 2010 No comments

Fire/Rescue flashlights are used by Fire and Rescue professionals. They can also be used in hazardous or dangerous environments.

Most fire flashlights are high visibility colors like orange, lime, yellow or even a bright red. The hi vis colors are so the flashlight operator can be seen even in hazardous or smokey conditions. Also so that if a firefighter puts their flashlight down, they will be able to find it again. Some of these LED flashlights have taillights with LED in colors like bright white or blue.

Another characteristic of firefighter flashlights is that they are lightweight and easy to carry. Some flashlights even come with shoulder straps. You can also use some headlamps as fire or rescue flashlights.

Many fire/rescue flashlights are rechargeable and waterproof. Fire flashlights should be able to withstand harsh conditions, including extreme temperatures. Firefighter flashlights should also be impact resistant and durable for rugged atmospheres.
